Episode 1 – How did we get here?

Hosting The Box I Live In’s podcast series is part of my commitment to changing how I work and run the business.

Blake, my producer and co-host, has been talking to me for a while about doing something together. I was worried that if I committed to doing a series, I wouldn’t see it through, and it would just vaporise like a lot of other good ideas as I missed deadline after deadline.

Focusing on what you need to get done today can be easy, but finding the time to plan, commit, and organise something with no deadline or sense of urgency can be challenging. To help me stay focused, we now have a dedicated podcast page on the site and an explicitly stated commitment to deliver a podcast every fortnight. Blake has rather expertly put me ‘on the hook’.

Now I can add podcaster (who knew that was even a thing) to my skill set – and I am having the occasional sleepless night worrying about who to speak to and how to fit in a recording session!

This first conversation allowed me to reflect on what has happened to get me to the table and was a great motivator to start recording. We have started strongly and already have a few episodes under our belt to follow this.  There is no turning back!
